Site Meter

Just checked out my site meter page to see where my readership is based and have discovered two more countries that have not appeared before:

Ukraine and Australia

Now these could just be staging posts for IPs based elsewhere, but I would like to think that my cultural leanings of the United and Kingdom are of interest to people the world over ;)

Fast Stream

I got the Fast Stream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to share with all my fans the news that I heard yesterday, namely that I was successful at the Fast Stream Assessment Centre and have become a fast streamer.

Next stage is for me to meet with Human Resources to go through my feedback, and to discuss what my interests are and how this can fit my first fast stream post.

All very exciting, and once I have shaken off my stinky cold I will be celebrating with a beer or two. Given that I still have quite a bit of beer left over from my house warming party two weekends back I have a nice choice.

Borat

Cultural Learnings of Great US and A.

S and I went to see Borat's latest film last night. A clever film which makes one think about who and what one is laughing at and why. Of course the biggest laugh is on Borat's creator Sacha Baron-Cohen who is laughing at all of us who express indignation when he offends and yet are happy to go through life not thinking about our own actions.

Not a great film, but an amusing one.

House Warming Party

November 4 saw me host a smallish house warming party. Around 25 people showed up, and by the time they all left at 1am there was little food or drink left in my apartment.

The party was a great success, and lots of drink was consumed. One of my neighbours popped in with a bottle of wine, and he agreed with me on the outcome of the rather drawn out residents meeting we both attended on Friday evening.

Sunday saw me meeting up with one of my cousins on my mother's side of the family who I haven't seen in over 12 years. He called me out of the blue earlier in the fall and asked about meeting up. To be honest I was not in the slightest bit interested as to why he wanted to meet up. The meeting went well, and after the to be expected initial reserve on all sides , we loosened up and had a nice time. Not sure if we will meet up again, but will see what happens.

Scrambled

Hurumph.

As I was going out last night to go to my other half's coffee shop Halloween Party some little runt thought it would be amusing to run past and egg me.

Not only did it hurt, but one of the afore mentioned runts then had the temerity to apologise for his friend. I think it is possible that this member of the great unwashed learnt a few new words in my response, but the look on his face suggested that all he understood were the obscenities and not the yoke of my response.

Now if I am offered a job in the anti-social behaviour team at the Home Office I will be honest about my own bias and suggest that kids who behave like this are put in public stocks for a month and constantly pelted by eggs from an automatic machine.

That aside I had a great time at the coffee shop, and this morning am feeling sunny side up.
